It was wonderful to be back in the beautiful East Sussex countryside for our fifth Open retreat.
This was held in the Penhurst Retreat Centre, near Battle, and was attended by three ladies from East Sussex and beyond. As ever, the peaceful and prayer-soaked atmosphere of Penhurst helped us as we worked through the post abortion recovery programme and explored the emotions surrounding an abortion experience. It is true to say that no stone is left unturned, and it is at times a very painful process, but the healing which results makes it all worthwhile!
As one lady said:
“I was surrounded by love and security and therefore for the first time I was able to admit that the baby was not just cells. I could be released to really grieve …to ask God for forgiveness. I feel lighter, loved, not condemned.”
